The Foundation of Lasting Quality

Great furniture begins with exceptional materials. We source premium hardwoods and fabrics from trusted suppliers who share our commitment to quality and sustainability.

Why Materials Matter

The difference between furniture that lasts a lifetime and furniture that disappoints after a few years often comes down to material quality. We refuse to compromise. Every board of wood that enters our workshop is hand-selected for grain pattern, color consistency, and structural integrity.

Our relationships with sustainable forestry operations and premium textile mills ensure access to materials that meet our exacting standards. When you commission a piece from us, you're investing in materials that will age beautifully and withstand decades of daily use.

Premium Hardwoods

Each wood species offers unique characteristics in color, grain pattern, hardness, and aging properties. We help you select the perfect wood for your piece based on aesthetic preferences, functional requirements, and budget.

American Black Walnut

The aristocrat of hardwoods. Rich chocolate-brown heartwood with occasional purple undertones and dramatic grain patterns. Exceptionally stable and durable. Darkens beautifully with age. Perfect for statement pieces that demand attention. Janka hardness: 1,010 lbf.

White Oak

Classic American hardwood with prominent ray fleck patterns and warm honey tones. Extremely durable and water-resistant due to closed cellular structure. Ideal for both traditional and contemporary designs. Quarter-sawn cuts reveal stunning medullary rays. Janka hardness: 1,360 lbf.

Hard Maple

Light cream to pale yellow with subtle grain. One of the hardest domestic woods, offering exceptional resistance to wear and denting. Takes stain unevenly, so typically finished natural or with clear coats. Perfect for clean, modern aesthetics. Janka hardness: 1,450 lbf.

Black Cherry

Warm reddish-brown that deepens to rich auburn over time. Fine, straight grain with occasional small knots that add character. Machines beautifully and takes finish exceptionally well. A favorite for traditional furniture with timeless appeal. Janka hardness: 950 lbf.

White Ash

Light tan to pale brown with pronounced grain patterns similar to oak. Excellent strength-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for chairs and pieces requiring curved elements. Steam-bends beautifully. Popular for Scandinavian-inspired designs. Janka hardness: 1,320 lbf.

Genuine Mahogany

Luxurious reddish-brown with straight, fine grain. Exceptionally stable with minimal seasonal movement. Historically prized for fine furniture and musical instruments. We source only sustainably harvested genuine mahogany, not cheaper substitutes. Janka hardness: 800 lbf.

Premium Fabrics & Leathers

We partner with leading textile manufacturers to offer hundreds of fabric options. During your consultation, you'll review physical samples to experience texture, weight, and color in person. All fabrics are tested for durability and colorfastness.

Performance Fabrics

Engineered for real life. These high-tech textiles resist stains, moisture, and fading while maintaining soft hand-feel and rich color. Perfect for families with children or pets. Many options are bleach-cleanable and antimicrobial. Brands include Crypton, Sunbrella, and Revolution. Durability rating: 50,000+ double rubs.

Natural Linen

Timeless elegance with relaxed texture. Linen breathes beautifully and develops a soft patina with use. Available in natural undyed tones and a spectrum of colors. Belgian and Irish linens offer superior quality. Best suited for low-traffic pieces or those seeking authentic, lived-in character. Durability rating: 15,000-25,000 double rubs.

Luxury Velvet

Sumptuous pile with depth and luminosity. Modern velvets are more durable than historical versions, with many performance-treated options available. Creates dramatic visual impact and inviting tactile experience. Available in jewel tones, neutrals, and custom colors. Durability rating: 30,000-50,000 double rubs depending on backing.

Premium Leather

Full-grain and top-grain leathers from Italian and American tanneries. Develops rich patina over decades of use. Options include aniline (natural, shows character marks), semi-aniline (light protective coating), and pigmented (most durable, uniform appearance). Available in dozens of colors and finishes from matte to glossy.

Protecting & Enhancing Natural Beauty

Natural Oil Finishes

Penetrating oils like tung oil and Danish oil soak into wood fibers, enhancing grain while providing protection from within. Creates a natural, matte appearance that's easy to maintain and repair. Ideal for pieces where you want to feel the wood texture. Requires periodic reapplication but ages beautifully.

Hand-Rubbed Wax

Traditional finishing method using beeswax or carnauba wax buffed to a soft luster. Provides minimal protection but maximum natural appearance. Often used over oil finishes for added depth. Requires regular maintenance but rewards with unmatched warmth and tactile appeal.

Conversion Varnish

Professional-grade catalyzed finish offering superior durability and moisture resistance. Creates a smooth, protective surface available in sheens from matte to high-gloss. Ideal for dining tables, desks, and high-use surfaces. Can be color-tinted to enhance or modify wood tone.

Custom Paint Finishes

When color takes precedence over wood grain, we offer custom paint finishes in any color. Options include smooth contemporary finishes, distressed vintage looks, or specialty techniques like milk paint. All paints are low-VOC and environmentally responsible.

Sustainable Sourcing Commitment

We believe exceptional furniture shouldn't come at the expense of our forests. All hardwoods are sourced from suppliers certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). These certifications ensure forests are managed responsibly, with attention to biodiversity, water quality, and community impact.

Whenever possible, we prioritize domestic hardwoods to reduce transportation emissions and support American forestry. Our workshop practices minimize waste through careful planning and efficient cutting. Offcuts are repurposed for smaller projects or donated to local woodworking schools.

Our finishing products are carefully selected for low VOC content and environmental safety. We've eliminated toxic chemicals from our workshop while maintaining the highest quality standards. The result is furniture that's safe for your home and kinder to the planet.

What Clients Say About Quality

"

The walnut they selected for our dining table is absolutely stunning. You can tell they took time to find boards with perfect grain match. Five years later, it still looks incredible and the finish has held up beautifully despite daily use.

I was skeptical about the price difference between their materials and cheaper alternatives, but seeing the quality in person changed my mind. The leather they use is noticeably superior—it's aging into something even more beautiful.

They educated me about different wood species and helped me understand why white oak was perfect for my project. The transparency about sourcing and sustainability was impressive. I feel good about where my furniture came from.
